A Window Ventilation System that Doesn’t Ruin your Windows

It’s safe to say that the majority of people understand the importance of trickle vents. In Winter especially, they ensure that our homes and commercial buildings stay ventilated when it’s too cold to open windows, or during times when the rooms aren’t occupied for long periods of time.

But as good as they are, trickle vents have their limits. In a large room like an office, the small ‘trickle’ of air isn’t enough to prevent issues like damp and mould, and allergens will still be in the air in high quantities.

So what’s the solution?

How to Improve Ventilation in your Home

Our Air Box window ventilation system is designed to work alongside your trickle vents, improving the overall airflow to prevent issues like mould and make the air inside much fresher.

By attaching one to your window frames, you double the amount of airflow. However, there are some misconceptions about our solution that a few people still have, so we decided to put this blog together to cover all of them.

One of the biggest, as the title suggests, is how an Air Box looks when it’s installed.

Matching Trickle Vents to your Windows

Almost all windows now come with trickle vents built in. They’re made of the same material (usually UPVC) so they aren’t noticeable. Or that should be the case, but many are bulky eyesores that, although useful, don’t look great.

If you’re already frustrated by your built-in trickle vents, adding another one to the top of the window frame doesn’t sound like a good idea, even if you understand what it’s for.

That’s why we designed our window ventilation solution to blend in to your windows. Unlike traditional trickle vents, these are much smaller both in length and width. Once installed, they won’t catch your eye, or catch on blinds, shutters, or curtains the way some trickle vents do.

To help make them even more invisible, our Air Boxes come in three colours:

This covers the colour of most windows, and they can be painted with UPVC or cladding paint if they don’t match perfectly.

Now that you know that your Air Box will suit your windows, let’s talk about another pain point we hear about a lot.

A Window Ventilation Solution that Doesn’t Damage Windows

This is a common issue with trickle vents, especially ones that aren’t built into the frame itself. Although they are supposed to be a permanent addition to your window frames, something that will stay in place until the day the windows are replaced or refurbished, the damage is still a problem.

Drilling into your window frames to install new trickle vents can be a costly business, especially if you need to arrange a professional to do it for you. If your home has a lot of windows, the cost and time it takes both add up fast, and this is even worse if you have a commercial building with dozens of windows per floor. In an unoccupied build, this is added construction time, and in an occupied one, it can be a lot of mess and hassle.

But once again, all these issues disappear when you trust us for your window ventilation solution.

An Air Box attaches to your windows without damaging them. Instead of drilling into the window frame, it simply sits on top, and is secured in place with screws that won’t dent or scuff your windows. Air Boxes are designed to be permanent solutions too, but if you ever need to remove them, this can be done with nothing more than a screwdriver, and there will be no evidence they were ever installed.

Frequently Asked Questions

We only provide 3 colour options for our window vents:

Therefore if you don’t have a white, brown, or black UPVC window, then the colours won’t match. Although they’re all neutral colours so they will pair well with most coloured windows, you may still want the window vents to be the exact same colour as your windows. You can paint the window vents, but make sure to use a small paint brush and be extra careful around the air holes, making sure you don’t block them. The finish after painting window vents will be different to the UPVC windows and it can sometimes be hard to find the perfect colour to match, so also painting UPVC windows as well as the trickle vents will be a good idea.

Drilling into window frames can cause permanent damage, affect the appearance of your windows, and may even void warranties. It can also be time-consuming and costly, particularly in properties with multiple windows or in commercial buildings.

Modern solutions like Air-Box window vents are designed to be discreet and blend in with your existing windows. With colour options such as white, brown, and anthracite black, they can match most UPVC frames and remain largely unnoticeable once installed. You can also paint the UPVC window vents to match the colour of your windows.

Bulkier window vents can sometimes catch on blinds, shutters, or curtains. However, our Air-Box trickle vents are designed to be a lot slimmer to avoid this issue, allowing window coverings to function normally.
